Bengaluru transport officials seize 17 high-end cars for plying without valid documents
On Sunday, the transport department in Bengaluru took possession of 17 luxury cars, including a Rolls Royce, purportedly owned by a Bollywood celebrity, for operating without proper documentation within the city. N Shiva Kumar, the Transport Commissioner, stated that the seizure was due to the absence of valid documents with the drivers, and the cars were discovered parked near UB City in the central business district of Bengaluru.
Among the impounded vehicles, a Rolls Royce registered in Maharashtra was identified. However, the ownership details remain unknown. Shiva Kumar mentioned that none of the drivers could produce the required documents, as mandated by the central government rules outlined on the Parivahan Sewa website. He acknowledged that these high-end cars are collectively worth crores.
While acknowledging that the Rolls Royce may have belonged to a prominent Bollywood figure in the past, Kumar clarified that the details are currently under verification. The seized cars, registered in Maharashtra and Puducherry, will be returned to their owners if all necessary documents are provided within the stipulated timeframe. However, failing this, the transport department will seek court permission to auction the vehicles.
